In his state of the nation address, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel highlighted the social-liberal aims of the government by announcing new social measures.
These include:
 Increase of the cost of living allowance
Free school lunches for low and middle income families
Child benefit re-indexation
Free homework support
Fee day care centre (maison relais) during school weeks
Free music lessons
According to the Chamber of Trades, the deadlines for reimbursing wages advanced by companies on short-time work are too long.
DP MPs Carole Hartmann and Gilles Baum have asked the responsible ministers how long these deadlines are and what is being done to improve the situation.
Pregnant employees can apply for dispensation from work before their maternity leave, for example if they are unable to work for health reasons. The self-employed do not have this option, which can have a negative impact on the recalculation of their maternity benefits.
DP MPs Carole Hartmann and Mandy Minella have asked the relevant ministers whether paid dispensation from work or an equivalent mechanism will be introduced for pregnant self-employed workers.
