On March 13, DP International had the great pleasure of organising a conference with our party’s Secretary General and MP Carole Hartmann. The central topics of this meeting were the municipal elections of June 11 and the participation of our non-Luxembourgish fellow citizens.
New conditions for non-Luxembourgish citizens
In 2022, the electoral law was changed so that citizens who do not have the Luxembourgish nationality no longer have to live in their commune for 5 years in order to vote. In addition, the registration period was extended to 55 days before election day. However, non-Luxembourgers must still register if they wish to vote in municipal elections for the first time.
For 2023, this deadline is 5 p.m. on April 17. Until then, the concerned citizens have to register in their municipality or online at MyGuichet.lu.

DP’s slogan for these elections: #CloseToYou
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic and despite the sanitary measures, solidarity and cohesion within the Luxembourgish society was maintained and strengthened during this difficult period. Many citizens were very close to their neighbors and other fellow citizens, even if they were not physically close, for example by doing their groceries when they could not do it themselves, for example because of their illness or age.
It is on this unity that we want to bet now to create together with our citizens, Luxembourgers and non-Luxembourgers, communes that better listen and respond to the concerns of the citizens, close to them, close to you.
