Marie-Anne Kolbach-Hoffmann
69 years, retired nurse, Contern
Marie-Anne Kolbach-Hoffmann, 69 years old, is a retired nurse.
I am married and have two children and two grandchildren. I have worked the field of senior care for a long time, which is why I have been actively involved in the Senior Commission for years.
I was born in Steinheim and have been living in Contern since 1979.
After completing my education as a state-certified nurse, I worked at the hospital until I had my first child in 1982. Afterward, I stayed home for 16 years with my children. I supported them in their sports challenges and worked for 10 years in the committee of Swimming Luxembourg. I participated in the organization of international swimming events, where I also had the opportunity to meet some Olympians. When my children went off to university, I resumed working.
I worked for two years in long-term care insurance before switching to the newly established public institution Servior. At Servior, I was responsible for coordination between departments, the management, the CNS (National Health Fund), and the Ministry of Health. I oversaw training, digitalization, and collaboration with external consultants and a software company from Germany.
I had an interesting and challenging job and was able to actively contribute to the development of the organization. I gained valuable experiences and learned a lot.
In retirement, I am always ready to help when my grandchildren are ill or when any other assistance is needed.
My hobbies include tending to flowers and plants in my garden, taking photos, and creating photo books to document our travels and to capture significant events throughout the year.
I am also interested in new technological developments and environmental issues.
Together with my husband, we have traveled to all five continents. I have had the opportunity to meet people from different countries, learn about their cultures, and take an interest in their politics.
After visiting 78 countries, there are still a few on our list for the future.
However, home is also beautiful, and there are also problems that need to be addressed in our country and our municipality of Contern.
